Serge Gainsbourg, Aux armes et cætera, 1979

Serge Gainsbourg recorded his thirteenth studio album at the legendary Dynamic Studios Kingston, Jamaica alongside the I-Threes , Sly and Robbie and Uziah "Sticky" Thompson and is reported to be one of the first European artists to record reggae in Jamaica.

Gainsbourg’s hushed weathered tones sit as a perfect contrast to the bright and uplifting backing vocals provided by Bob Marley's back-up group the I-Threes. Dub fx and perfect rhythm and bass from Sly and Robbie provide a fully authentic reggae backdrop for what is essentially a controversial adaptation of the French National Anthem.
