Mim Suleiman, Nyuli, 2009

Mim moved from Zanzibar to the UK in the 1980's to teach Metallurgy at the University of Birmingham, inspired by some the key singers of her native country she then decided to pursue a career in music.

Produced by Maurice Fulton, this sits somewhere between disco & house with crunchy drums and disco guitar flourishes combined with Swahili vocals on top from Mim and a huge bassline. The 12' features the dub on the B side, which is further stripped back and reworked for the dancefloor.
